Chang Bunker & Eng Bunker (May 11, 1811–January 17, 1874) were a twin brothers whose affliction & birthplace became the basis for the term Siamese twins (conjoined twins). It were born within Siam (now Thailand), in the province of Samutsongkram, to a Chinese father (Ti-eye) and the half-Chinese/half-Cham mother (Nok).

A Bunkers were joined at a sternum by a little piece of cartilage. Their livers were fused but independently complete. Potentially though 19th-century surgical technology wwhen non about when advanced as these are now, it stand easy been separated. Around 1829, they were found inside Siam by British merchandiser Robert Hunter & exhibited as the curiosity when you took a globe tour. Upon termination of their locate their discoverer, it with success went into business for themselves. Inside 1839, when camping Wilkesboro, North Carolina with P.T. Barnum, the twins were attracted to the town and settled there, becoming naturalized United States citizens.

the brothers fixate a plantation, bought slaves, and adopted a title "Bunker." It were accepted when respected members of the community. In April 13, 1843, they married deuce sisters: Chang to Adelaide Yates & Eng to Sarah Anne Yates. Chang & his married woman experienced 10 babies; Eng & his married woman experienced Xi. finally, a married woman squabbled & eventually deuce separate family were install. A twins died on the equivalent day around 1874.
